Guest Wi-Fi

Create a separate wireless network for your guests while keeping your main home network isolated.

Quick Navigation

1. Guest Wi-Fi Overview

Guest Wi-Fi provides a separate wireless network for visitors without giving them access to devices on your main home network.

Separate Guest Network

Guests can connect to a dedicated Wi-Fi network instead of using your main Wi-Fi network.

Network Isolation

Guest devices are isolated from your main network and cannot access devices on your home network.

Automatic Timeout

Guest Wi-Fi can automatically turn off after a selected period of time.

Router Mode Only

Guest Wi-Fi is available when the router is operating in Router Mode.

2. Access Guest Wi-Fi Settings

Guest Wi-Fi can be configured through Router Web.

Step 1 — Log in to Router Web

Connect your device to your Mercku router and open the Router Web management interface.

Step 2 — Open Guest Wi-Fi

Go to:

Settings → Guest Wi-Fi

Step 3 — Enable Guest Wi-Fi

Turn on the Guest Wi-Fi switch to begin configuring the guest network.

3. Configure Guest Wi-Fi

Step 1 — Choose a Usage Duration

Select how long Guest Wi-Fi should remain active.

Available options are:

Always On
1 Day
8 Hours
3 Hours

When the selected time expires, Guest Wi-Fi automatically turns off.

Step 2 — Set the Network Name

Enter the Guest Wi-Fi network name (SSID).

The default network name is:

Mercku Guest

The SSID can contain up to 20 bytes and cannot contain commas or spaces.

Step 3 — Choose a Security Type

Choose one of the following security options:

Open Network
WPA2
WPA3

WPA3 Compatibility

Some older devices may not support WPA3 and may be unable to find or connect to a WPA3 Guest Wi-Fi network.

Step 4 — Set a Password

If you select WPA2 or WPA3, enter a Guest Wi-Fi password.

The password must contain 8–24 characters and cannot contain commas or spaces.

A password is not required when Open Network is selected.

Step 5 — Configure Smart Connect

When Smart Connect is enabled, the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz guest networks use the same Wi-Fi name.

When Smart Connect is disabled, the 5 GHz network name automatically uses the _5G suffix.

5. FAQ

Can guests access devices on my main network?

No. Guest Wi-Fi is isolated from the main network, so guest devices cannot access devices on your home network.

Can Guest Wi-Fi turn off automatically?

Yes. You can select 1 Day, 8 Hours or 3 Hours. Guest Wi-Fi automatically turns off when the selected time expires.

Can I keep Guest Wi-Fi enabled all the time?

Yes. Select Always On as the usage duration.

Why can’t an older device connect to Guest Wi-Fi?

If Guest Wi-Fi is using WPA3, the device may not support this security type. Try using WPA2 if compatibility is required.

Why can’t I find the 5 GHz Guest Wi-Fi network?

Check whether Smart Connect is enabled. When Smart Connect is enabled, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz use the same network name.

When Smart Connect is disabled, the 5 GHz network name uses the _5G suffix.

Why did my Guest Wi-Fi disappear?

Check whether the selected usage duration has expired. Guest Wi-Fi automatically turns off when its timer reaches zero.

Why can’t guests access the Internet?

Make sure Guest Wi-Fi is enabled, confirm that the usage timer has not expired, and check that the main router itself has an active Internet connection.

If WPA3 is enabled, also confirm that the guest device supports WPA3.
